Derriford Hospital staff raise £1915 for BCW

The Outpatients Appointment Centre (OAC) team has raised £1915 for Bowel Cancer West (BCW).
Every year, over 60 members of staff from the OAC vote for a charity to support and take part in fundraising activities to raise as much money as possible. The team has spent the last twelve months taking part in various events such as the Plymouth 10k, the Plymouth Half Marathon and sponsored walks, as well as arranging events such as cake sales and dress down days.
Consultant surgeon, Chairman and Founder of BCW, Mark Coleman, said “We would like to say a huge thank you to Graeme and the team at the OAC for their generous donations, their hard work and effort in the Plymouth Half Marathon and their work over the last year.”
Executive Director of BCW, Edward Sinclair, added “We are extremely grateful for all the support from the OAC this year. It’s been amazing and inspiring to see the different ways they have fundraised to reach this total and to see so many get involved.”
BCW, work tirelessly to raise awareness, fund research, provide training to healthcare professionals and increase the survival rates of people diagnosed with this condition.

Outpatient Performance Manager, Graeme Hemsley, said “We are very proud to have chosen BCW as our charity for 2017.  The team have invested a lot of their time, energy and efforts in organising some great events throughout the year. It’s been a pleasure working with Mark and the wider team to raise awareness and contribute towards the great work that continues to be done”.
